What is the cozy mystery market hungry for in 2026?

Based on current Amazon/Publisher Rocket research, the answer is not simply “more small-town cozies.”

The real answer is:

Cozy readers want bingeable series worlds with a clear repeatable mystery engine.

But what does that mean? It means a concept should be able to generate six or more books naturally and have the ability to pull a reader deep into that world.

Some current trends we’re watching:

🐾 Dog cozies are strong — especially when the dog has a real role in the mystery world.

🧳 Secondhand / antique / found-object mysteries are promising — estate sales, charity shops, antique stores, vintage goods, rare books, old ledgers, recipe boxes, trunks, jewelry, and family heirlooms all create built-in mystery fuel. 🏡 Small-town settings still work — but they need a sharper hook than “a charming town with secrets.” Plotworks makes sure we hit all the tropes!

📚 Series architecture matters — readers are clearly buying deep series, long-running worlds, and multi-book bundles.
